Generally, people do not recommend using non-AoE spells to train slayer prior to trident of the seas.

If you don't feel like spending money on training magic, high-alching is a break even/profit method that's better than training slayer without AoE.

With dust devils, you profit on some of the tasks. But for things like Ankous (no req), Warped Jellies (52 slayer), Dust Devils (65 slayer) are good to stack. You can't just burst any target, as 2x2 or larger targets can't be easily stacked, and you need to be in a multicombat zone. You can hit up to 9 targets with 1 cast which yields a ton of exp. Once stacked, you can hit them with the 3x3 AoE. The gist is that, when you're in a multicombat area and you have a bunch of NPCs, you grab aggro on all of them, walk to a corner, and then repeatedly walk through the npcs multiple times to stack them up.

Smoke burst is available at lvl 62 magic, but ice burst at 70 magic is the most cost efficient while also being the highest damage of the burst spells. This require the quest Desert Treasure to access Ancient Magicks. If you have some money to spend on a starting stockpile of runes, most people recommend Burst or Barrage spells (3x3 AoE) to train magic quickly. For more information about account bans, click here.
